DESCRIPTION
Get your FCA right… but don’t stop there, because that’s where the real work and value begin.
Too often, organizations treat a Facility Condition Assessment as a box to check, when in reality it’s only the starting line. An FCA provides the baseline for understanding what’s failing, what’s at risk, and what it will cost to address, and getting that baseline right is critical. But the FCA itself doesn’t move the needle; the value comes from how the data is used. True asset management integrates FCA data with maintenance and capital planning, applies smarter prioritization based on risk and lifecycle cost, and uses ongoing monitoring to adjust before issues escalate. It also tracks outcomes to confirm whether investments are actually delivering fewer failures and lower costs. Ultimately, an FCA is not just a technical exercise but a cultural shift that turns facilities data into a shared language for better decisions and long-term mission success.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Understand how an FCA becomes the foundation for integrated asset management
Prioritize assets using risk, impact, and lifecycle cost—not just condition
Use FCA data to monitor performance and drive better decisions over time
