Introduction to Lean Construction & Design

Webinar Date:
February 25, 2016 at at 2:00 pm ET

The Construction Industry Institute claims that construction activities are more than 50% wasteful. Simply stated, that means that more than 50 cents out of every dollar spent on a project is squandered by a lack of productivity. Lean construction has identified eight wastes that hinder efficiency and reduce profitability. This webinar will teach you to identify and eliminate waste through the use of Lean Construction strategies to increase earnings and provide greater value to the owner.

In the mid 2000’s, course instructor, Rob Warcup, applied lean construction techniques on the job to help save his company 13% on direct costs and reduce schedule durations by 40% - all while improving quality. This translated into a yearly savings of $16M. Rob now teaches construction management at Utah Valley University and helps companies improve productivity and increase their bottom line.

Robert Warcup, Professor of Construction Management, Utah Valley University

While working in the construction industry, Rob Warcup was fortunate to take part in a lean pilot program that emphasized efficiency and competitive excellence.  He quickly realized the power of lean and helped lead his regional team to a $16M savings by applying lean principles.  Since then, Rob has completed a PhD where he emphasized lean construction for his dissertation research.  He is currently teaching construction management at Utah Valley University and the lean construction curriculum for the Associated General Contractors of America.
