Tracking State Buildings & Assets with Integrated BIM Strategies & Software

February 7, 2019 at 2:00 pm ET
In this session, Joe Eichenseer and Peter Heimbach will discuss tools and strategies that can be used to extend the use and application of building information modeling beyond design and construction, and allow valuable data to be collected and used in ongoing facilities management. You will be able to use these tools and strategies to promote the long term value of BIM (Building Information Modeling) to your design partners and have them engage with you to develop a model and data to be used after design and construction are complete.

We will discuss:
- BIM and its value after design and construction
- Levels of integration between owners, designers, and contractors
- Tools to enhance integration and collaboration
- Planning for operations and maintenance during design
- Extracting BIM data during the building commissioning process

Peter Heimbach, Jr. currently serves as the Director of Special Projects for the State of Tennessee Department of General Services, providing direction to large, complex and politically sensitive capital projects for the state. Peter previously served as the State Architect for Tennessee as well as the Assistant Commissioner of Real Property Administration and Executive Director of Real Estate Asset Management giving guidance to projects and transactions for general government. Prior to coming to the State, Peter worked for twenty years in private practice as a Project Architect for two separate design firms, was a sole proprietor of his own firm, and helped to lead a construction company.
