A day in the life:

You will assist the facilities services branch manager and ensure the deliverance of all

aspects relating to the facilities services program.

You will provide leadership, training and coaching for the facility services staff.

You will develop long and short-range planning, goals, and objectives, including maintenance

and capital improvement plans for facilities within immediate control.

You will implement and maintain a preventive maintenance program for all ODOT buildings.

You will prepare monthly status reports of crew activities and projects.

You will oversee evaluation and reporting of public accessed buildings.

You will serve as the agency expert in program areas and evaluate the quality of services

provided and respond to the agency’s changing needs.


You will provide expertise, direction and advice to agency management regarding program

issues in the following areas: leases and agreements, space planning and development,

facilities restoration claims, facilities risk assessment, compliance by all state-owned facilities

with public and employee occupancy, and building systems such as HVAC, electrical,

plumbing, elevators, and alarm systems.

You will develop and implement joint state-local strategies, partnerships, and other

cooperative arrangements to solve statewide facility needs.

You will be required to carry a cellular phone for 24/7 response.

Working conditions:

Physical working conditions normally consist of those in a standard office environment. This

position requires frequent contact with customers, contractors, and local officials.

Occasional travel to customer and project locations; including some overnight travel.

There is potential exposure to extreme hazards of traffic, construction equipment, and

working in inclement weather conditions.

May be required to work long hours during emergency situations. This may include storms,

floods, snow, rain, and other disaster-related events.

What we need:

Three (3) years of management experience in a public or private organization, which

included responsibility for each of the followinga) development of program rules and

policiesb) development of long- and short-range goals and plansc) program evaluation andd)

budget preparation.


Two (2) years of management experience in a public or private organization which included

l 45-48 quarter hours (30-32 semester hours) of graduate level coursework in management.


Three (3) years of professional experience as a program/project leader, assigning and

reviewing work of professional staff (e.g., engineers, etc.) including project responsibility for

developing goals and objectives, project evaluation, and monitoring and controlling or

preparing a budget.

Experience leading and creating plans for facilities services and support units.

Experience in managing preventative and planned facility maintenance activities in a

structured and professional way.

Experience and knowledge of computer systems and new technology relating to facility

maintenance processes.

Experience overseeing maintenance trades, carpenters, support staff and project managers.
