The Department of Administration is dedicated to providing responsive, cost effective and timely support services to Idaho's policy makers, public agencies and state employees as they service Idaho's citizens.

We are seeking a personable and professional licensed architect or engineer to manage construction projects with values up to $70,000,000 for State agencies. Our Project Managers administer project budgets, oversee design and construction, contracting and oversee the work of consultant design professionals.

Typical Responsibilities:

  • Interfaces with state agencies to refine project scopes and schedules;
  • Drafts requests for qualifications for selection of contracted design professional;
  • Analyzes and ranks proposals based on established project criteria;
  • Prepares design professional contracts;
  • Negotiates design fees commensurate with project scope and budget;
  • Consults with design professionals regarding bidding and contract awarding procedures and alternatives;
  • Opens and verifies bids; reviews bids for compliance with statutes and requirements;
  • Reviews plans, specifications, cost estimates and construction methods and systems for accuracy and legal compliance;
  • Consults with and advises design professionals regarding changes to architectural/engineering design, construction materials, and systems;
  • Acts as owner-representative during construction of projects;
  • Conducts final review of construction close-out process.

Minimum Qualifications:

Licensure: Possession of an Idaho Architect License or eligible for endorsement by the Idaho State Board of Architectural Examiners as required by Idaho Code 54-302A. -OR- licensed in Idaho as a Professional Engineer (PE); or eligible for comity licensure by the Idaho Board of Professional Engineers in accordance with Idaho Code, Title 54, Chapter 12

Good knowledge of:

  • Construction contract administration;
  • State and local building codes including International Building Code and electrical, plumbing, fire, life-safety codes, and ADA guidelines.


  • Developing construction requirements for commercial buildings;
  • Preparing architectural or engineering plans;
  • Valid driver's license
