The Director of Facilities plans, directs, and supervises the activities of Facility & Physical Plant Services for WVHK. The incumbent provides direction and technical expertise in the planning, design, construction, remodeling and maintenance of WVHK’s existing and proposed infrastructure. The position is responsible for the planning, budgeting, and financial management of facility and physical plant programs and the management of diverse and complex work unit operations (i.e., institutional water treatment plant, two high capacity wells, heating-cooling operations within the power plant, maintenance, buildings, grounds, and facility repairs). The incumbent performs the full range of supervisory functions for work unit employees, and serves as a key member of the WVHK management team.

Minimally-qualified applicants will have experience:

  • Managing building projects (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, electrical, grounds, maintenance, construction, building codes and safety regulations, directing daily operations, prioritizing projects, etc.); and
  • Performing supervisory functions (e.g., developing performance standards, evaluating training needs, handling discipline and corrective actions, recruiting, hiring, tasking staff to complete work timely, etc.); and
  • Providing expert advice and making recommendations on construction projects; and
  • With professional communication and cooperative relationships; and
  • Providing leadership and change management

Well-qualified applicants will also have experience:

  • Managing building projects for large facilities (e.g., schools/universities, hospitals, office buildings, churches, etc.); and/or
  • Preparing and managing operating budgets (e.g., setting goals, itemizing expenses, proposing expenditures, directing changes, etc.); and/or
  • Conducting long-range planning; and/or
  • Developing and implementing policies/procedures; and/or
  • Acting as a liaison

Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment physical and tuberculosis (TB) test.

The Wisconsin Veterans Home at King (WVHK) is currently recruiting for a Buildings/Grounds Superintendent, to serve as the Director of Facilities on the Home campus. WVHK is a skilled nursing, long-term care facility that specializes in providing comfort, support, and professional medical services to elderly or disabled Veterans and their spouses. The facility is located on the picturesque shoreline of the Chain O'Lakes, off Highway 10 between Stevens Point and Appleton.

Starting salary is between $68,640 and $78,686 annually, plus an attractive benefits package.
