Liberty Plaza - Georgia's Capitol - "New Front Door"
For over 100 years plans had been in development for an assembly area around GA's Capitol. GBA demolished a 1960's deteriorating parking deck to build Liberty Plaza. The Plaza eliminates the need to close major streets that presented a safety hazard
Georgia hosts over 100 outdoor events a year resulting in street closures that adversely affect traffic. Liberty Plaza becomes the focal point for large rallies and assemblies during and between sessions. The plaza can accomodate over 3,000 visitors.
The Plaza also becomes a classroom at the Capitol as it includes Liberty Bell and Statue of Liberty relicas; plaques: Preamble to Constitution, Pledge of Allegiance, & flags representing the 14 original colonies. Also, Plaza is an emergency evac site

Presenting a solid master plan with designated funding that offers an execellent solution to a safety hazard will produce a successful project for citizens of the State. GBA used funds from sale of surplus property to fund this project.
